Your first impression of Istanbul will be vivid - and conscious. You will recognize the city where cultures and civilizations have intersected since antiquity. Hear about the history, architecture and interesting details of the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome and Hagia Sophia. Visit the colorful Egyptian spice and sweet market. Finally, take in the views on a 2-hour Bosphorus cruise.
What awaits you
The Blue Mosque, or Sultanahmet. This shrine is deservedly considered the "calling card" of Istanbul. We will examine this elegant and at the same time grandiose building from the outside and inside. I will reveal where the mosque got two names from, how it was built and why exactly six minarets were installed.
Hippodrome Square is the sports and secular center of Constantinople. How and what competitions were held here? How was the arena set up? You will hear the answers to these questions and look at the preserved obelisks and monuments of the ancient Hippodrome.
Cathedral (mosque) of Hagia Sophia, or Hagia Sophia. You will follow the amazing path of the cathedral, realize its significance for the world, hear about the "golden age" of Byzantium and the famous frescoes.
The Egyptian Bazaar is a fragrant stop on our way. The second largest market in Istanbul after the Grand Bazaar. Here we will talk about Turkish sweets and spices, which I will help you choose and buy.
Walk along the Bosphorus. I am sure that our city cannot be recognized without sailing on a boat along the legendary strait. The walk will last 2 hours, so you will have time to admire the sights from the Golden Horn Bay to the second Bosphorus Bridge and take pictures.
