Magnificent Istanbul: Ottoman Era Architecture
Let's start with a visit to the Topkapi Palace, built in the 15th century. It remained the main residence of the Ottoman sultans until the middle of the 19th century. Let's walk through its territory and visit the harem, in which the life of women at the court took place. This part of the program will especially delight fans of the Turkish series "The Magnificent Age", which takes place on the territory of the palace.
Then we will go to the Suleymaniye Mosque, built by order of Suleiman the Magnificent in the 1550s. In the courtyard of the mosque we will see the mausoleums in which the Sultan and his beloved wife Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska, also known as Roksolana, are buried.
In addition, we will examine another building designed by the same architect Sinan - the Şehzade Mehmed Mosque. It was erected in memory of the deceased son of Suleiman - Prince Mehmed. We will talk about all these and other historical figures on our excursion.
